The co-creator of Call of Duty, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in Los Angeles, California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was verified by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.

The celebrated industry figure died after his automobile collided and burst into flames on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"We are facing a devastating loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
