Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. Three initial producers have started production, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in combat and proved effective “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” after six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv.
