Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Members to White House
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
White House Call
The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Support
Community members gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist public safety in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“Sarah was the individual that teachers desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to assist people.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed the program that she aimed to meet with his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
