The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for Mammon in Showalter's delightfully tacky true story about the fallen televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye commence profiting from the people's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of tacky decor, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, yet Chastain manages to show the character as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, early morning, the Film4 channel
