The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.
Although not quite at the same level as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.
“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”
This ceremony, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The swine, donated by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Every time, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
