The Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first championship series since the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation except for George Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their performance in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
Toronto secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
