Declan Rice Crosses on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Enjoyed room to drift down the left flank only to be in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Granted a well-earned rest on the hour mark. 6

The star midfielder Operated in a high role out wide while also did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but dragged an effort over. Withdrawn in the closing stages for Rogers, a fellow player, following a yellow card. Seven

The winger Was presented with England’s clearest opportunity of the first half, his shot smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah hanging back, he had to stretch the play down the right side but his crosses from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted late in the match. Six

The captain The match-winner with his two more strikes in an England shirt. His first a typical close-range tap-in while the second a superb headed goal having drifted away off his defender. Aged 32, his form is unwavering with the national team stand a real opportunity next summer with him up top. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Struggled to get into the game out wide. Had a good opening after being played in by the midfielder but the keeper denied him. Rashford had a greater influence after coming on. 5/10
