New information has come to light regarding the tragic deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

A Alarm

A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held without bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

Additionally refuted published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
