Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
